Wally’s Café is a three-person comedy that takes place in a roadside café in the California desert between 1940 and 1981. The café is owned by Wally and his wife Louise, who have moved from New Jersey to open the diner in 1940. Wally is convinced that “once the highway comes through” his diner will be a big success, although Louise is less optimistic about their chances of finding success in the desert. Their lives are permanently altered by the arrival of Janet, a blonde with limited talent who is on her way to Hollywood to become a movie star. Janet’s overnight stay at the café somehow turns into 18 years, and suddenly it’s 1958. The second act takes place in 1981, and answers the questions: “Did the highway ever come through?” “Did Wally ever become a success?” and “Did Janet ever make it to Hollywood?” In the Broadway production, James Coco and Rita Moreno played Wally and Louise, while Sally Struthers played Janet. Performances are October 10, 11, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, and 25, 2008. Tickets are $10 for Adults and $8 for Seniors and Children Under 12. Special dinner/theatre packages are available for the Brew Keeper and Our Place Restaurant.
