Our 2008-2009 season closes with the musical Godspell, one of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time. Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, the play utilizes numerous theatrical traditions such as clowning, pantomime, charades, acrobatics, and vaudeville to portray the various parables. Songs include “Prepare Ye”, “By My Side”, “All Good Gifts”, and the hit “Day by Day”. Godspell is a unique reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, tolerance and love. Godspell was written by John-Michael Tebelak, who graduated from Berea High School. Music is by Stephen Schwartz. Godspell was originally performed in North Ridgeville by what was then known as The Olde Towne Hall Players in 1978. This was before the renovation of the Olde Towne Hall Theatre was completed, and the play was performed at Lear North Elementary School. An encore performance was later held at the Lorain Palace Theatre. Performances will be April 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 30, and May 1 and 2, 2009. Tickets are $12 for Adults and $10 for Seniors and Children Under 12. Applications are being accepted for Director, Musical Director and Choreographer. Audition dates will be announced.
